The Billie Swamp Safari
Before going to the Ahfachkee School, we toured different places in Florida owned by the Seminole Indians. One place we visited was the Billie Swamp Safari. At the Swamp Safari we learned about different animals native to the everglades in Florida. During the Billie Swamp Critter Show, we got to hold a baby alligator. Later, during the swamp buggy ride, we saw adult alligators. The baby alligator that we held had tape over its mouth so he didn't bite anyone. It is amazing to think that the Seminole people used to wrestle the adult alligators for a living.
The Ahfachkee School
For one week, Monday through Friday, I worked in the Ahfachkee School. I worked alongside Mrs. Clark, in her fifth grade class. My main duties were to organize papers for Mrs. Clark and answer any questions the children had about their in class assignments and homework. My work with the children at the Ahfachkee School was much like my work with tutees at the Center for Academic Success at Cayuga Community College.

The Home
My art classes at Cayuga Community College participate in service learning by traveling to The Home, an assisted living facility, in Auburn, New York. There we draw, paint, etc. with the residents. We teach them how to use different media to create art. They enjoy our company.
